The Project
Each year, Vikini Studio collaborates with Vila Universitària, the student housing of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), to design its promotional and informational materials. From apartment keys, guides, and access cards to merchandising like mugs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and decorative posters, we ensure that every piece reflects the Vila’s identity as a welcoming, dynamic, and functional space.
The Challenge
The challenge is to refresh the visual identity annually while maintaining its essence. With each new academic year, new students arrive with fresh expectations, and our goal is to create a modern, engaging, and cohesive visual experience that makes them feel part of the community.
Beyond functionality, we turn purely informational materials into visually appealing, well-designed pieces that enhance the student experience—transforming everyday items into meaningful objects they use with pride during their time at Vila.
The Process
At the start of each academic year, we work closely with the Vila team to assess needs, explore creative directions, and develop a cohesive design system that applies across printed guides, access cards, study room decor, and branded merchandise. The result is a consistent yet fresh visual identity that evolves while staying true to Vila Universitària’s unique character.
The Impact
By elevating everyday materials into carefully designed, recognizable assets, we strengthen Vila Universitària’s identity and foster a greater sense of belonging. The materials go beyond practicality—they create a visual language that connects students to their university home from day one.
